Benefits
Stacking and nesting toys like the Rainbow Stacker by Grimm's help develop fine motor skills, which play an important role in preparing kids to be self-sufficient. Such skills are critical in children's ability to use spoons to eat, to write legibly with a pencil, to turn pages in a book, to dress, or to brush their teeth. Stacking also helps stimulate reasoning skills (bigger arc stack on top of smaller arc), which are essential in problem solving activities.
This children's educational wooden toy has earned the Spiel Gut distinction -- a quality mark awarded by the German Design Association's Committee of Games and Toys. Such an award recognizes high quality children's toys that are also ecologically sensible.

Today, there are several Grimm’s toys around our house. One of my husband’s and my favorites is the Wooden Rainbow Stacker. We like it for a number of reasons: it’s gorgeous, different, and clever. Our daughter likes playing with them and WE like playing with them. This is important because after playing with a toy with your child for the umpteenth time in a day, it’s preferable if the toy is also fun for the parent. Wouldn’t you agree?
At first, the Rainbow Stacker seems like a simple toy. But just you watch and see what children do with them. Yes, children stack and nest them, but not only as a rainbow. Kids create amazing architectural feats with the arcs. They learn about balance as they build their unique creations. They learn to test our their ideas.
What’s particularly great about the Rainbow Stacker is that it goes beyond teaching about the colors of the rainbow, nesting, and stacking. It allows for creative game playing, where children practice social norms. My nephew and niece, for example, use the arcs like garden croquet arches and roll a small ball through them for points.
As you can imagine, by the end of the evening, my nephew and niece debated and eventually agreed to game rules for there to be peace in the land. It was great to see how they reasoned and negotiated with each other. Surprisingly, adults joined in, too.
Good toys are wonderful that way. They bring children and adults together.
Highly recommended.
