Mother Goose Nursery Rhyme Blocks (Set B) by Uncle Goose Toys
Product Description
Another update on a classic, these whimsical blocks help children to learn traditional nursery rhymes. They are proudly made in the U.S.A. Great for block play, early reading, or as a nursery decoration. They are also a good addition as a family heirloom.
Each 1 3/4" square block is embossed on opposite ends with two silhouette images from classic Mother Goose stories. The nursery rhyme text is printed consecutively on the four remaining sides. Set B contains the following traditional nursery rhymes: Tom Tom the Piper's Son; Hickory Dickory Dock; Little Bo-Peep; Ladybug Ladybug; Jack & Jill; Pat-a-Cake Pat-a-Cake; Wee Willie Winkie; Peter Peter Pumpkin Eater; and Dickery Dickery Dare. Collect all three sets.
Benefits
Toy blocks serve as building blocks for children's creativity. They also have been shown to significantly increase language development. A recent study reported in the October 2007 issue of Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine finds a strong association between playing with building blocks and a significant increase in language scores in young children. On average, kids who played with blocks scored 15 percent higher on their language assessment than those who did not. Researchers speculate that such a measurable increase is partly due to creative block play replacing other time spent in activities that do not encourage language development, such as watching television. They also maintain that child and parent playing together remains the strongest way of promoting children's development.
