What I like about the lowercase blocks set is that along with the small letters, it features baby animals found in the capital letters version. Together the two make an ideal educational toy. I’ve learned a lot from them myself. (Did you know that a baby skunk is called a kit?)
I put the blocks side by side and teach my daughter adult and baby animals. I point at myself and say, “Mama,” and point at her and say, “Baby.” Then I point at one block and say, “Mama owl,” then to another and say, “baby owlet.” The blocks make it possible to teach this concept easily while she learns about many animals. She also learns about letters, numbers, and colors. Her vocabulary and understanding are expanding tremendously as a result of playing with the alphabet blocks.
As a former teacher, I also like the lowercase blocks with their capital letters counterpart to show the relationship between the two. It’s important for children to learn that there are upper and lowercases. Connecting the relationship between big letters and small letters with adult and baby animals will help children learn this difficult concept easier.
Highly recommended.
