Kevin Henkes is an author-illustrator of numerous picture books. Growing up he loved to read books and imagine who the writers were. He wrote and illustrated his first picture book when he was 19 years old. "The words come first" he says about his numerous picture books, then the pictures. He is well known for his mouse line of stories which include, Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse, Owen, and Chrysanthemum, to name a few.p>
